Lead Mechanical Engineer

In the position of Lead Mechanical Engineer, you are constantly looking for new technical possibilities in the mechanical field. You have an eye for design and finding the optimum between functionality, cost price, quality and scalability. You are able to oversee the consequences of design changes and are able to cooperate closely with architects and engineers from other disciplines to determine the final roadmap. You will lead the mechanical team on a technical level; with your situational leadership you know how to enthuse your colleagues.

As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will be:

  • Involved in the feasibility phase where you will study the feasibility of mechanical components based on customer requirement specifications;
  • Contributing to the system roadmap using your mechanical expertise;
  • Dissecting customer/ product specifications in various levels of complexity;
  • Determining the system requirements, mechanical requirements, design and model the product in 3D;
  • Determining material choices, cost price, scalability and quality at an early stage of development;
  • Defining modules and related technical interfaces;
  • Convert the designs into production documentation and take care of the validation of the designs;
  • Responsible to monitor projects within the agreed specifications;
  • A situational leader for our internal and external Mechanical Design Engineers on a technical level;
  • Coordinating the distribution of work and monitor overall progress in an agile way;
  • Managing collaborative partners internally and externally;

As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you preferably have the following profile;

  • A background as a Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in an equivalent role preferably in a machine building environment;
  • HBO/ WO education (level) in the area of mechanical engineering;
  • Good command of English language; Dutch is a plus

And you:

  • Are able to read specifications and to convert them into concepts;
  • A conceptual thinker (construction principles, material knowledge, electrical basics);
  • Are able to convert concepts into system trees and manageable, controllable work packages;
  • Are familiar with manufacturing and cost price;
  • Are a communicator as well internally and externally;
  • Have an entrepreneurial mentality, with good communication, collaborative and leadership skills
  • Eager to work in a multidisciplinary and international team.
