Electrical Architect, Eindhoven
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Electrical Architect to join our innovative team. As an Electrical Architect you have knowledge and experience in Electrical Engineering. You will play a crucial role in our team by leading the design, development, and integration of complex systems for our machines. You work on the whole product range of SMIT Thermal Solutions and are responsible for defining architecture, coordinating electrical design activities, and ensuring optimal operation of systems within our machines. You will be a member of the System Architect Team within the Engineering Department and give technical guidance to the project teams. During engineering and realization of the concept you support where needed, to bring the concept to a mature product fulfilling the customer needs.
Activities and responsibilities
- Leading the design and architecture of systems within the machines;
- Coordinating the electrical engineering execution;
- Developing electrical systems and components, including specification, design, and implementation;
- Identify re-usable functions to support modular/configurable designs;
- Definition of functional solutions (configurable E-Schematics) which can be re-used as a standard solutions within different machines;
- Coordinating integration activities and ensuring seamless collaboration between various technical disciplines;
- Performing system analyses and tests to ensure performance and reliability and review designs to ensure they meet requirements;
- Resolving complex technical issues and providing technical support to the Engineering team;
- Collaborating with various stakeholders to establish and maintain system requirements;
- Deliver input to maintain and update technology and product roadmaps;
- Translate customer specifications into functional concepts;
- Manage customer specifications and identify change requests;
- Support critical design choices with modelling and calculations/simulations;
- Document findings and reports in our PDM system;
- Recognize/resolve (technical) project risks and emerging problems in time and address them with the team;
- Identify and initiate improvements of existing processes and systems;
- Maintain increase and share own expertise by peer-to-peer training;
- Research applicability of new emerging technologies;
- Translate product definition into platform and or system specification;
- Estimate and plan your own workload and monitor progress in an agile way;
- Support the creation of the user manual for the developed products.
Profile and skills
- Bachelor/Master in Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline;
- Demonstrable experience as a System Architect and/or Electrical Engineer within machine building or a related industry;
- Knowledge on how to design and review electrical schematics;
- Knowledge on E-Plan software is a pre;
- Knowledge on functional/modular E-Schematics;
- Helicopter view at a multidisciplinary level;
- In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, industrial automation, and embedded systems;
- Have an entrepreneurial mentality with strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities; Can also work independently;
- Eager to work in a multidisciplinary and international team:
- Systematic worker with a focus on quality awareness;
- An open minded and out-of-the-box thinker;
- Technical and conceptual insight;
- Prioritize, plan and track your activities (scrum experience is a pre);
- Modular design and parametric modelling to enable “Configure to Order” engineering;
- DFx (especially DFMA);
- FMEA and other risk analysis tools;
- CE awareness (MD, LVD, PED etc) and Safety Standards;
- Fluent in reading, writing and speaking English; Dutch is appreciated;
- Experience with high temperatures and vacuum is a plus.
