Mechanical Engineer, Eindhoven

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer with a specialized focus on (large assembly) machinery to join our dynamic and multi-disciplinary team. This role involves designing, developing, and optimizing mechanical systems and components leading to a predictable machine output and reliability for an acceptable cost price. You are in close contact with the Lead Mechanical Engineer. Together with the project team you ensure that set deadlines are met. You are responsible for the final design and the quality of the work. You have an eye for design and finding the optimum between functionality, cost price, quality and scalability

Activities and responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical systems and components using CAD software. You are responsible for an up-to-date version of these systems, using our PRO.FILE PDM software;
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders to determine project requirements and constraints and ensure your designs are conform these requirements;
  • Create detailed technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, reports, and manuals;
  • Identify and troubleshoot design flaws and propose solutions to enhance product performance;
  • Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices;
  • You take ownership for your design 3D and 2D; You do peer reviews to improve your and your colleagues’ output quality;
  • Your designs, drawings and documentation are appropriate for outsourcing modules to China;
  • You report progress on a regular base to the Lead Mechanical engineer and/or project manager;
  • You design modules modular and parametric so they can be reused for new projects;
  • Support the other mechanical engineers and keep the WoW up to date;
  • Determining material choices, cost price, scalability and quality at an early stage of engineering;
  • You support all activities required to meet the CE Directives with respect to machine safety.

Profile and skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field;
  • A background as a Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in an equivalent role preferably in a machine building environment;
  • Have design for manufacturing (sheet metal, welding and machining) approach and cost estimation knowledge;
  • Able to convert concepts to 3D designs;
  • A conceptual thinker (construction principles, material knowledge, electrical basics);
  • Think modular so your design can be re-used for other projects;
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities; Can also work independently;
  • Eager to work in a multidisciplinary and international team;
  • Proficiency in CAD software (preferably SolidWorks) and familiarity with simulation tools;
  • Able to use GD&T in complex designs and make stack-up estimations when necessary;
  • Have an entrepreneurial mentality;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time and meet deadlines;
  • Fluent in reading, writing and speaking English; Dutch is appreciated;
  • Experience with thermal processes and vacuum is a plus.
